BeBe the pug sheds a little insight into life as a spoiled rotten pet*... *she also sheds a lot of pug hair all over everything and everyone... |
| November 11, 2008 | |
Fall has arrived. The days are shorter. There's no more daylight savings time and someone forgot to reset my tummy clock. So I've been waking my pug-parents up at 4:30 a.m. so they can feed me breakfast. Uh, it's not working...I don't get food at 4:30 a.m. I usually get a swat on my tushy and told to go back to bed. It's just awful. But, I've been working on it and I'm getting better. This morning I waited until 5:50...right before Daddy's alarm went off. See me over there on the right? That's me sound asleep after a hard weekend spent helping Daddy and Grandpa work in the backyard. They made a path to the garage and made a mow-strip behind the house. Ming was beside herself upset because they got rid of her wet weather mudholes. Filled them in with concrete blocks! We supervised. Supervising is hard work. It tires me out. |

Is it cold where you are, yet? We really haven't had a lot of cold days so far this Fall. Just one icky day when there was snow. But, I'm pretty sure more snow is coming soon...and just for the record, I'm against it. Didja vote? I hope so. I'd support anyone who was all for giving me more cookies. There just aren't enough cookies. I realize I might be considered a 'one-issue' voter (if I could vote, that is), but my tummy rules and it says "more cookies, please". So I think it's time for another long Fall afternoon nap. You should consider a nap, too. They are so refreshing. When you wake up, you're all set to tussle with your pug sister! Well, if you have a pug sister. I do. And she's always up for pug play. Me, not so much...naps help. |
So have a nice nap. I heartily recommend it. Especially if you have someone to curl up beside and snore on. It's good to be a pug when there's 'nappage'... "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

I think the dog days of summer have arrived. It's just too hot to move. HEY! What is this...MING! You little twerp...She POSTED to my blog! I had no idea...little sisters are, well they're, um, little sisters... shhh...don't tell anyone - but she's really lots of fun to play with. Well back to this too hot stuff...honestly, it's hot enough outside to melt a pug into a puddle of goo. So I'm spending my days resting comfortably in Momma's air-conditioned office. Life is good when there's air-conditioning. |

Ming still runs around like a crazy dog barking just to bark and all kinds of silly stuff. Momma says she's on alert. She's ready to save the world...from what, I have no idea. See that basket of stuff sitting beside Ming in that picture? That's Momma's fabric. She's been on a listing frenzy...something about the house will only hold so much fabric so if she's gonna bring in new she's gotta get rid of the old...so if you like fabric as much as Momma likes fabric, you gotta check out the store! Besides, when Momma preps fabric for sale she doesn't like Ming and me in the way so we get cookies. More cookies is always good. Buy more fabric, then Momma will list more fabric and we'll get more cookies! See how this works? It's all good. |
Well I think I need to take another nap in the cool...besides Momma needs the computer so she can play 'shipping department'. She plays that almost every day...Daddy says that unfortunately she also plays 'acquisitions department' nearly every day, too... It's good to be a cool pug in an air-conditioned eBay room... "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

Shhh...it's me... Ming. Don't tell anyone (especially my chubby pug sister) that I'm sneaking a post on her blog. She'll just get all huffy and won't play with me if she finds out. Today was just awful. I got left all alone for the first time since I came to live here. I was very worried...and I was so glad when BeBe and Momma came back...they were just gone forever - at least 2 weeks - I'm sure of it. BeBe had to get a booster shot. eww...shots are icky. |

So yesterday Momma and Daddy worked on getting fabric ready to sell on eBay. That's when Momma remembered why she hasn't done that since April...since I managed to get the little yellow ruler off Momma's desk and chewed it up into little pieces. My pug parents were all worried for a couple days - like I am dumb enough to swallow wood splinters...but they thought I might have...then they kinda forgot all about it when it turned out I hadn't...until yesterday, that is. I suppose it really wasn't a very smart thing that I did...but honestly, I can't help myself. Sometimes the imp in me comes out - when I forget that the fun play and love attention I get when I'm good is better than the attention I get when I've been naughty. I'm pretty sure that Momma was worried that I'd do something awful while she took BeBe to the vet. But I showed her! I was a GOOD GIRL! I didn't do anything (that she'll ever find out about...I'm getting better at hiding the evidence). I mostly sat and worried and waited. Did I mention that I'm pretty sure they were gone for two whole weeks! |
Funny thing about BeBe being gone this afternoon. I kinda realized that even though she's my big sister and she can be such a pain in the neck, I kinda missed her. She's a really good buddy to take a nap with and sometimes I can cajole her into a good romp and game of chase...otherwise known as 'Pug NASCAR'...cuz we go around and around the house. |

I suppose I'd better get this finished up and get off the computer. If anyone asks what I was doing, just tell them I was surfing for, um, uh, bargain chew toys on eBay, yeah...that's it. It's good to be a pug...even a little sister pug... "Chow" for now, --Ming |

I tell ya, it's so hard to be a pug these days...Mother Nature just isn't cooperating - the weather stinks. First there's snow...and when I say snow, I mean there was snow on the ground in MAY! And now it won't stop raining! I'm thinking that Daddy might need to start working on an ark...we're gonna need it any day now. And if that's not bad enough, I've been put on a diet and told I have to exercise. Momma walks Ming and me on a tandem leash. Daddy says we look like a hydrogen atom - with me as the nucleus. Ming has to smell and look, smell and look - she just can't walk and behave like a NORMAL pug... so she kinda runs circles around me - good thing that tandem leash has a swivel. |

Ming's been up to the usual...she's such a little troublemaker and she gets so jealous if I want to play with a toy. They were MY toys FIRST! She's such a toy hog...but sometimes, when I've had enough, I show her who's really boss around here. I just wish she'd remember that for more than two seconds. Ming got her own pictures on the bottom of Momma's auctions! I just don't think it's fair! She doesn't even LIKE to get her picture taken, uh oh, wait a minute - she's figured out that having pictures taken is a good thing. You can't keep anything secret around Ming... so now I guess I have to share auction mascot duties with my kid sister (twerp). You can see Ming and me at work in Momma's auctions by clicking the link here:
|
But when it comes right down to it, life is good. We get lots of cookies from Grandma! Ming and I keep the neighborhood safe by barking up a storm at everyone who walks by the house (although we tend to do that more when it's SUNNY - just a hint for whoever's in charge of the weather). And when it's rainy like today, we take lots of long naps in Daddy's recliner. |

| It's almost Christmas and Ming and I are so excited! The Christmas tree is up and the animated polar bears are out front and the geese got new Christmas clothes (I pouted until I got a new sweater, too!) And since I got a new sweater, Ming got something new to wear, too. Like she'll wear it...she just wiggles out of everything Momma puts on her... | ![]() |
![]() |
That Ming! She is such a troublemaker! She gets us in trouble all the time. And I swear! NONE of it is really my fault. Okay...I might be guilty of occasionally egging her on and possibly of helping her shred things...but honestly, it's mostly MING...I'm an angel, really! Daddy went all "McGuyver" on us when he put up the Christmas tree - he screwed it down to a metal cabinet. We can't even knock it over and destroy the ornaments! I know because Ming has tried. I told her not to, but does she listen to me? |
| My grandpa has been coming over on the weekends and helping Daddy remodel the basement. He's such a pushover! I get bites of his lunch and all I have to do is do my little 'I'm starving, feed me' tap dance while I hold onto his leg. Sometimes I put my chin on his knee and drool. That really gets good results. Of course, Grandpa has to sneak me the bites now because I am on a diet. A real one, not that 'see food' kind... I gained 4 lbs. since summer. I keep trying to make my pug parents understand that pugs are supposed to be chunky, but they aren't buying it. But my grandparents love me and understand that pugs aren't meant to be skinny and they still give me all sorts of goodies. It's really good to have grandparents. | ![]() |
Ming and I have been supervising the bathroom renovation. It's coming along nicely now. There's even walls in there. Supervising wears us out. Ming snores really loud at night after a day full of supervising Daddy and Grandpa. She supervised Daddy's plumbing on Sunday and ran off with the Teflon Tape...Daddy wasn't very happy. Ming's name got used in vain. Ming and I sure hope that you and your furbabies have a wonderful holiday. We know we will because Grandma said we are getting lumps of coal in our stockings. What's coal? We hope it's good to eat. It's good to be a pug (especially at Christmas!) "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

| April 20, 2007 | |
| Okay, okay, it's been a long time since I updated. I couldn't help it. I got a new sister. Momma and Daddy rescued her from a cold garage and a crate. Her name is MING THE MERCILESS. Daddy named her. And she is, too, that merciless thing anyway. It was a long winter here. I had to learn to get along with Ming. And Ming had to learn, well, just about everything. She wasn't very smart when she got here even if she was 6 months old. I had to show her the ropes...how to go potty outside, how to put on 'the cutes' when you get in trouble, and language skills. She didn't even know how to 'woo'! Can you believe it? | ![]() |
![]() |
We play together a little better now. But boy, little sisters sure are toy hogs. If I want to play with a toy, so does Ming! Then the tussle is on. We especially fight over BoBo and the whale and the giraffe and well, now that I think about it, there isn't one single toy that I can play with that Ming doesn't try to take away from me. |
Last Christmas our Grandma bought us matching denim jackets. Of course, I thought they were pretty nifty and was all set to get my picture taken. Ming had other ideas. First of all, she doesn't think pugs should have to wear clothes (honestly, she sure doesn't know much about how things work - the cuter you are the more treats you get!). Then she also has this problem with sitting still, as in she can't. Not for one minute, heck, not even for two seconds! It was an awfully trying ordeal for the photographer (Momma), but finally Ming was subdued and a decent photo for Christmas cards was taken. And then there were treats...even Ming got one. Not that she deserved any. |
![]() |
![]() |
So you'd think that Momma, would have learned her lesson at Christmas with the first fashion photo shoot, but NOOOOO...she goes and puts sweaters on us a few weeks ago and says we have to sit still while she takes our picture for the store. Fat Chance. All Ming wanted to do was squirm and eat my sweater. But, things are getting better. Ming has learned to sit (ever hear of B. F. Skinner? Me neither, but Momma says he's got better ideas than that Pavlov fella) and that sitting gets her treats. So now she sits all the time. Unfortunately, that means I have to outdo her in the trick department in a vain attempt to get extra treats. |
So the long winter turned out to be not the least bit boring thanks to Ming the Merciless and quite a lot of minty bones. And, except for that time when Grandpa pointed the snow blower at me, I kinda got used to the snow...uh, wait. Did I just say that? No, I am not used to the snow. Snow stinks. Makes your putties all cold and wet. But, I suppose I'll put up with some snow in the winter because being spoiled by pug-grandparents is pretty darn wonderful. And I have three of them here! Ming and I sure hope winter's over where you are (actually, we really hope it's over where we are, but we'd better not hold our breath). The sun is finally shining! We're gonna go see what trouble we can dig up in the garden... It's good to be a pug (even if you do have to put up with little pug sisters)... "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

What the heck have my pug parents done to me! Where have we moved? It's SNOWING! In the middle of September! Stuff is still green and it's snowing. I am highly unimpressed. Although, this nice thick orange sweater helps a bit. It's so chic! And when I wear sweaters everyone thinks I'm too cute...which is always a good thing. |
I sure hope that the snow goes away soon. Momma says I better get used to it. It snows a lot here in the winter. What were they thinking! And they put my dog door in the screen door! I have to ask to go in and out here when it's this cold. This is just awful when you are as spoiled as me... |

Well, I sure hope the sky isn't spitting white stuff where you live. I think I'm going to have to have a nice chewblie and an afghan to curl up on the couch in this afternoon. That oughta make things all better. It's good to be a pug! "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

| Wow! It's been so long since I updated this page! So much has happened since last Christmas... My pug parents sold their house on Whidbey Island and we moved back where my grandparents live! It's called Montana. They say there's more sky here! I think it's just the best thing that could have ever happened to a pug because I can see my Grandmas and my Grandpa any ol' day of the week now! I'm only 5 minutes away! |
In my new backyard, enjoying that Big Sky Sun! |
The new couch in the new livingroom |
We lived with my grandparents for about 2 months. It was so cool! I got SO SPOILED! Even Grandma snuck me bites under the table! Then we moved into the BIG YELLOW HOUSE! It has a yard! With a chainlink fence! It has a HUGE new Pug Plasma window! And best of all, it's on a really busy street - people drive and walk past all day long. I bark at them. It's my job. |
| Momma says that we moved where there's 4 seasons instead of 2. I don't know what my momma is talking about. It's been nice and warm and I've spent hours sunning myself and barking at the rabbits that lay about in the shade in the yard next door. They don't like me cuz I bark at them. I want to play with them so bad...and they won't come near me. |
It's so hard to keep up with all the traffic! They just keep coming and I just have to bark at them...I'm just telling them to SLOW DOWN! |
Keeping watch, inconspicuously (well, as inconspicuous as a pug can be in the foliage) |
Momma says that in a few months I'm gonna learn all about snow...and that I won't want to spend hour after hour in the backyard. I think momma's nuts. Why wouldn't I want to spend time in the backyard...I've got to bark at the cars and the people! If I don't who will? Now, about all this Big Sky stuff...It's true. It's bigger and it's bluer here. I've been to visit here before, but now that I live here, I can tell you that it's true - every day! If you haven't been to visit Montana before, you should come and see for yourself... and don't forget to drive down my street so I can bark at you, too!
|
Momma is still selling stuff on eBay. She lets me help some. When I get tired from all my barking, I like to come and rest at her feet. I have to make sure she's listing stuff every day. She says she has to list enough fabric to be able to get Petey in the garage before winter. I think Momma isn't going to make it. There's too much fabric. But, I'll try to keep her on the job, so don't forget to check out the eBay store. Buy more fabric. Who cares if Petey will fit in the garage, I need more chewblies. There's no such thing as too many chewblies. I think I need to go bark at some more cars now... It's good to be a pug! "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

| Santa came to visit me! And my Grandma and Aunt Lori sent me lots of Christmas presents, too! I had SOOOO much fun opening them all up! And then I found out they were TOYS! More toys! There's just never enough toys! And TREATS! I got new chewblies! Grandma gave me the biggest peanut butter bone ever! I'm still working on it...ask me in a month...I bet I'm still working on it. It's a really big bone! | ![]() |
|
I even got a Gingerbread Man toy from Shelby. She lives across the street and she is my friend. She plays with me, and boy can an 11-year-old girl ever wear out a 3-year-old pug. I gotta take a nap after she goes home. See that purple thing I'm snoozing on in the picture? Momma made that. She says it's hers, but I know better. IT'S ALL MINE! I am the princess pug and that means that all things purple and all things velvety are mine to curl up on and take a nice long nap. |

I hope everyone reading this had a wonderful holiday... Hey! no goin' bananas over that! I'm a dog! I don't care what you celebrate...just so long as your dog gets a nibble or two of the family feast... Speaking of your dog...it's winter in these parts. If it's winter where you are, I sure hope your dog is inside with you and all warm and toasty. None of this tied up outside stuff... Our job is to love our people. How can we do our job if we aren't with our people? 'Nuf said. Now I think it's time for another long winter's nap... It's good to be a pug! "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

Halloween is almost here! I get to wear CLOTHES...er... wait. Last year I got to wear clothes (I was a disco princess), and the year before that I got to wear clothes (I was a ballerina)... but this year, no clothes!
Halloween 2005 |
Halloween 2003
Halloween 2004 |
Mom says I'm going as a "sim pug"...I think the Sims2 is an awful, horrible game. Mom plays it and IGNORES ME! It's not good to ignore me, and I frequently remind her of this...all it usually takes is a rake on the leg, but sometimes I have to resort to fishing stuff out of the garbage can and taunting her with it. The worst indignity of all is that I don't get new clothes for Halloween, but the GEESE get to wear clothes for Halloween. I am downright GREEN with jealousy. Those silly cement geese wearing perfectly wonderful outfits, and I go around nearly nekkid with this green plumb bob attached to my harness. I even carried on and had a huge fuss when Mom put those clothes on them geese. Didn't do a bit of good. They're still wearing those nifty outfits and I'm still just a sim pug. Mom says I can't wear the old outfits because I've gotten too fat. Yeah, well who feeds me all those treats? It's not like I beg for them... er... Wait a minute. Uh, nevermind. While we're on the subject of treats... don't forget to treat your furbabies on Halloween...just NO chocolate and NO raisins...Mom always says I can't have anything that has those ingredients in them...it's terribly bad for me and for all my fellow pugs and dogs of all kinds.
|
|
I'm sure I'll get a few scoobies or a new chewblie. Your dog needs a chewblie, too! Goodness! Look at the time! The big hand is past the 12 and the little hand is on the 5! It's time for dinner! The bestest part of every day. Dad swears I have an internal watch that tells me when he's supposed to come through the door (4:15 every day) and when dinner is (5:00 every day). And he'd better not be late or there'll be consequences. It's good to be a pug! Happy Halloween! "Chow" for now, --BeBe

What?!?! Back for more insider information on the secret life of pugs? Good...I'm spillin' the beans. We spend a good portion of every day SLEEPING! SOUNDLY! That is until our pug parents decide we're too cute and must take our picture. I wish they'd just leave me to snore. I never get enough beauty rest. |
|
|
It's cold and rainy here today, so I've been snoozin' on the couch instead of sunning myself on my little 'doggy deck' on the back porch like in the photos on the left. Daddy put a nice doggy door in for me (okay, actually he replaced the old one that was for the other dogs - the ghosts that sometimes whisper in my ear - he made the little deck for them, too, but it's ALL MINE now). My doggy door is cool. It has a clear flap that I can see through. I like to let my pug parents know when I am upset with them - I go outside and sit just outside the doggy door and poke at it with my paw. I usually do this when I have been ignored. It's not nice for people to ignore their pug. There must be consequences for this. Usually a few pokes is all it takes and then they know I'm miffed. |
Of course, miffed pug is a bad thing. Placated pug is a good thing. I've trained my pug parents well and they know this...and so it isn't long before I've been 'invited' to come back in the house. Sometimes Daddy threatens me and says that if I don't stop poking at the door that I might get to permanently live in the backyard. Of course, this is an empty threat and I know it. I'm too cute for the backyard. Besides, he'd miss his chair buddy when he sits down to fall asleep, er, watch tv every evening. As always, it's good to be a pug. "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

Goodness! It's been two whole months since I updated here! Summer's almost over and soon my days of basking in the sun on the back porch will be over. No more summer 'brown belly'... I felt a little under the weather and had to go visit Dr. C. Momma thought I was feeling kinda puny and I was awful itchy. I got a shot and had to wear that nasty anti-flea medicine...it makes me smell bad and then no one wants to snuggle me cuz I smell like the insecticide aisle at Cenex. PEEYEWWWW. |

![]() |
Momma got me a new kind of chewblie. This one tastes like barbecue chicken...I chew them and chew them and pretty soon it's all gone and I have to wait until I get a new one. I like to chew them around the edges until I make them circular. Daddy says I'm a weird pug to do that. What does he know!...maybe the weirdos are the dogs who chew them square. I have been watching the news an awful lot, lately. Well, that's because that's what Momma and Daddy have been watching and I don't really have a choice in the matter. If I had opposable thumbs, I'd get hold of that remote and we'd always watch Animal Planet. |
Momma has been awful worried about her customers and her internet friends and all the other people in Louisiana and Mississippi. I have been worried about all the pugs and other dogs and the kitties, too (just don't tell anyone about the kitty part, okay?). I am hoping that all the pets get found by their owners. I can't even imagine just how awful it would be if you couldn't find your people and the water all around you would make you sick if you drank it and you didn't know when you were going to have some food in your tummy again. It's just too awful for a pug to even contemplate! I think I have to go chew my chewblie some more now. It's good to be a pug. "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

I told you I'd be back...I'm like a bad penny! Momma says so! It's been a pretty eventful week, well, at least from my point of view (about 12" up off the floor unless I'm on the furniture). Of course, I had to bark at all the neighborhood kids when they play out in front of the house, and I had to bark at every car that drove by and the mailman...why does he come back nearly every day? Maybe he likes it when I bark at him? |

On Saturday, I got a bath. I love getting a bath! It's so much fun to play in the water, and when the bath is over we have TOWEL TUSSLE! I always win, I think. After my bath, I promptly went out and sunned myself dry. The sun has finally decided to grace us with its presence. It's about time! Summer's almost half over, and my belly is barely brown! |
After my bath, Momma had to wash the towels. I helped her fold them. She calls my help 'hindering'...what does that mean? It must be helping, because I got a noonsie out of it! I always get noonsies for helping. I help Momma make her morning latte by sitting there oh so quietly waiting for my noonsie. Who is this "Pavlov" guy and how many dogs does he have, and why does Momma always talk about him when she makes her latte? My noonsies are made by this nice lady who sells them on eBay. Your dog would like noonsies, too! I just know it! My favorites are the peanut butter treats that she makes from scratch! Around here they are called 'noonsies' but that's just because that's when Momma makes her coffee... Oh yeah! A link to the nice lady's eBay store! You gotta get your dog some of these! I had to pose for a new bottom picture. Modeling is such hard work. You have to be cute all the time! A new bottom picture means that Momma is gearing up to add lots of new items to her eBay store! It's about time! I was beginning to think she was going to take the summer off. You should check it out... just click here, and if you see something you like, you should get it! Then maybe Momma will buy me the extra large bag of noonsies! I need more noonsies... Really! It's good to be a pug. "Chow" for now, --BeBe |

| I suppose I ought to tell you a little bit about myself, since this is the first entry in my very own blog... I am a 2½ year-old fawn pug. I own two 'paranoid pug parents' (that's what Dr. C, my vet calls 'em! I swear!) . Momma sells stuff on eBay and from her own website. My picture goes at the bottom of every auction and store item on eBay! Dad has this thing called a 'job'. He goes away most mornings and leaves me here at home with mom. Then after this enormous span of time that seems like an eon (okay, so I can't tell time very well), HE COMES HOME! I generally have a fit and carry on like a banshee when this happens. | |
My old yellow ducky |
Yesterday, Mom took a friend to a doctor's appointment off the island. I didn't get to go. I stayed home and kept the house safe from intruders (don't tell anyone, I mostly napped). Mom missed me so much, I got a present when she got home. |
| Mom got me a new great big furry yellow ducky! It's HUGE. I used to have one, but it was a lot smaller. I loved that yellow ducky. I chewed him all the time. First I chewed all the fur off. Then it got down to bare fabric and I worked on that some and pretty soon I got the stuffing out of him. He disappeared after that and I've been wondering where he went... But now I have a NEW ducky! |
Me and my new great big yellow ducky |
This morning I decided to bark at some no-see-ums. I got quite carried away and was barking up a storm while standing on the back of the couch, and the next thing I knew, I was in the box of car parts Dad has behind the couch (Mom's supposed to list them up on eBay, but so far she hasn't gotten around to them). Mom had to rescue me. It was scary. I pretty much spent the rest of the day having a nice long nap. It takes a lot of napping to recuperate from such a traumatic experience. You should plan on checking back to this page very soon. I promise to write more entries in my blog. It's good to be a pug. "Chow" for now, --BeBe |
